Rick is a kind, gentle and responsive man. He and his wife are working out their differences so this seems to be a bit stressful for him at times, but the house is comfortable, homey, super affordable and reasonably clean. There are top quality keypad locks on each room door and if you need anything Rick will kindly oblige any reasonable request, including driving you to the store if needed in his mercedes.
The place is just a block away from the student center and dining hall at MIU campus, closer than any of other accommodations on campus or the Guest Conference Center. I do plan on staying again in the future for along term stay.

Thank you for guiding me in so late at night. You were a very pleasant host, Rick.

Rick and his wife were very responsive and flexible.  Accommodations were basic and clean.  Bathroom was shared with Oksana and adequate.  Kitchen was available and clean and well stocked with dishes and pots and pans.  I only stayed one night and it met my needs for this trip.

A comfortable, quiet house and room with amenities such as full kitchen available to guests.  Easy location, access, and communication.  Walking distance to MIU and the dome, close to the town square. A great variety of restaurants and events in this small town.

Rick is a amazing host, and beyond that a good man. You couldnt ask for a better host.

It's a nice place with a great host.  The place is clean and peaceful.  The host was friendly and went the extra mile to help me carry my luggage.

I would definitely stay again.

Disclosure: I'm a "liberal elite" from what we jokingly call the "People's Republic of California."  I worked as an activist to push the LA City Council to pass an impeachment resolution long before "The Former Guy" had been impeached in Congress. I was surprised I'd unwittingly booked a room in a house with a giant "Trump 2024" banner in front. And slightly unnerved when my two female housemates bolted before a crazy storm hit, but I got stranded a few extra days, just me and "MAGA Man" Rick.  His wife was in DC.  I baked him bread, he shoveled the snow, heroically, and helped me get to the domes as weather allowed.  The house was cozy, clean, a great value, and convenient to walk when it wasn't minus degrees. We got along swell.  I felt safe. I even worried about Rick when his car got stuck in a snowbank.  The house has an auspicious location.  Peaceful tendencies can be cultivated here, even in the midst of a uniquely polarized election year.  Hooray for the Maharishi Effect!

Rick is a very gracious host. Super friendly, responsive to all questions and concerns. My favorite things about this Airbnb are the location (it's right across the street from the university), the fact that there is a separate fridge/freezer for guest use, and the bed.  The bed was super comfortable. The price is also a great selling point!

This place is wonderful! I put down "amazing amenities" and "outstanding hospitality" for extra perks because Rick is first and foremost a great host and will make sure you are comfortable in this space. He was very accommodating to my cat and even let him explore a bit which I know my cat greatly appreciated :). Rick is also a great expert on meditation and other perks of visiting this meditation university nearby. As for amazing amenities, i dont think a traveler would be missing anything here, you have a full kitchen laundry etc! Finally I appreciated how big and spacious the house was along with the rooms. ll prefer large spaces and it was very private and spacious! 10/10

I came to Fairfield for a best friends reunion. It was a rainy weekend out PERFECT. We were forced to be inside and visit. However, my best friend has cats :) and usually an extended rnenagerie. l am a difficult sleeper and allergic to lots of stuff so decided to book a room. For the price, you are NOT gonna find anything better!!! It is a converted sorority house with both long and short stay guests. The amenities from wifi to tv to bidet to a telescope! Fully stocked il<it-chen with every gadget you in imagine and a shelf in the massive fridge for each guest. I stowed my Monsters and leftovers with confidence Lol. Room. 2N :) There are designated quiet times which are wonderful! l didn’t have to worry about loud raucous stuff or neighbors. The bedroom was simply decorated but the BED was super comfy with memory foam topper and nice n firm! I slept like a corpse and woke up refreshed after being up for over 36 hours and 12 hour drive. Shower Water was hot and overall house was clean. The common rooms were clean and tidy but comfy and inviting. I wanted to pick up the guitar and just strum. If you have never had a bidet experience, try it. I was amazed and shopping for one at home. I lust followed the directions on the wall and enjoyed the ride. Covid precautions are taken and sanitizers and masks are available at each doorway. Rick was so nice and even held umbrella for me as I gather my things from my car. My best friend lives in town and I will definitely be back!!! 10/10 highly recommend!!!

Stayed here for an Iowa National Guard drill weekend. As others have said, you get what you pay for. Hot shower, full kitchen, nice quiet and private room. Best night sleep I've had in two years. Will be back for future drill weekends!

If you're looking for a quiet, homey, safe environment to pass some time in Fairfield, Rlck's is the place. Can't get any closer to campus, very close to local offerings. The two women currently staying there for extended terms are lovely. Great value!

Host Rick met me at my car as I pulled into his driveway behind the house and graciously offered to help me carry in luggage. l was able to choose a room from all the available rooms. It was a warm room during the cold nights. Rick provided extra blankets and a comfortable chair for relaxing, meditating, reading, and watching the snowfall. Although Airbnb's description of the bathroom displayed only a picture of a tub, l was delighted to find a shower/tub available! It took a couple of days to locate the hair dryer and shampoo, but he found them for me. The kitchen was spacious with a large shelf to store dry foods and generous space in the refrigerator/freezer. The dining room needs some TLC but has such a wonderful feeling to it. l got to play the guitar that was available for guests in the common living room. The washing machine had an agitation problem but the dryer worked well. Host was alerted. Rick was very amicable and helpful to see that my stay was comfortable.

Rick’s place was good for a short term stay. Basic amenities, simple rooms, comfortable bed.

Could use some updates (new pictures, fresh paint on the walls, new carpet, decor, etc). That being said, you get what you pay for. Very affordable stay. Rick was friendly and accommodating, and made sure I was satisfied with my stay.
